Yakei, a 9-year-old macaque seized power at a Japanese preserve, played the field and mated with at least one male, all while managing to maintain her status as her troop’s alpha. I created this on a Saturday and the article was the first thing I read on Sunday. The article came out on Friday, but I don’t remember reading it. Either way I never intended to create a portrait of Yakei – she just sort of appeared. Link.
